Diabetic shoes and inserts
Diabetic shoes and inserts
Therapeutic footwear is the single most effective way to prevent a diabetic foot ulcer, and most insurance plans, including Medicare, cover a pair each year for patients who qualify. We handle the qualification and the fitting.
What's Involved
- Risk assessment — Sensation, circulation, and deformity screening to establish eligibility.
- Custom moulded inserts — Inserts made from a cast of your foot to offload the high-pressure areas.
- Fitting and coverage — Depth footwear fitted in the office, with the documentation your plan requires.
When to Come In
- Diabetes with neuropathy — Reduced sensation in the feet.
- A previous ulcer or amputation — A history that puts you at high risk of recurrence.
- Foot deformity — Bunions, hammertoes, or Charcot changes that concentrate pressure.
