Varicose vein treatment
Varicose vein treatment
Varicose veins are a circulation problem, not a cosmetic one, and left alone they progress to swelling, skin changes, and ulceration. Modern treatment is done in the office through a needle puncture, and most insurance plans cover it when symptoms are documented.
What's Involved
- Duplex ultrasound — Mapping which veins are refluxing and where the problem starts.
- Minimally invasive closure — Ablation or medical adhesive to close the failing vein, done under local anaesthetic.
- Same-day recovery — You walk out and return to normal activity, usually the same day.
When to Come In
- Aching, heavy legs — Discomfort that worsens through the day and eases with elevation.
- Visible bulging veins — Ropy veins on the calf or thigh.
- Swelling or skin changes — Ankle swelling, darkening skin, or a healed ulcer.
